Real questions, real answers

These are the kinds of things she gets asked every day — and how she answers.

Tiny Human 🍼

She's cluster feeding every hour tonight and I'm losing it. Is this normal at 3 weeks?

Three weeks is a classic cluster-feeding growth spurt — evenings are usually the worst of it, and it typically settles within a few days. Tonight: side-lying position so you can rest, water and a snack within arm's reach, and let someone else do the burping and changing. If she's making 6+ wet diapers a day and gaining, supply is fine. Call your provider for fever, fewer wet diapers, or nursing that stays sharply painful.

Sous 🍳

I have ground turkey, half a bag of spinach, feta, and rice. Dinner in 25 minutes?

Greek turkey rice bowls. Brown the turkey with oregano, garlic, and a squeeze of lemon; wilt the spinach in at the end; spoon over rice and crumble the feta on top. Twelve minutes hands-on. If anyone's picky, keep their turkey and rice separate and give them the feta on the side.

Help me answer my mother-in-law without starting a war. She wants to 'drop by' Saturday.

Try: "We'd love to see you! Saturday's packed here — could we do Sunday around 2? We'll have more time to actually visit." Warm, no apology, gives a real alternative. If she pushes, repeat the same sentence. You don't owe a reason.
